2007 LANDROVER RANGE ROVER WAGON Rolled his passenger window down then shouted “Don’t ride side by side”. He then proceeded to turn his wheels left, attempting to run me off the road.

Experiencing this felt like a very deliberate punishment pass. The OIC however explained that he was happy to accept the drivers excuse that she had borrowed the car and didn’t know its width.

CF advised me that he had similar police rejection of intentional close passes from this same police station.

Driver went super close to me – as well as the riders behind me. Incident submitted to Queensland police submitted and TIN issued.

Impatient driver passes when there is no room

There is roadwork on the Cotter Road bridge over the Tuggeranong Parkway to install an on-road cycle lane. Due to the construction works, cyclists must merge with traffic for 100m where it is a 2-lane, uphill section. Cars cannot safely pass a cyclist so must change lanes or wait. Most cars wait and change lanes, but a 4WD in lane 2 held up by merging cars from lane 1 performs a “Retaliation Pass”. Measurable spots on the road determine the location of the 4WD and enable a calculation of the passing distance of less than 63cm.

I felt the car had been a bit close as he passed. I reviewed the footage and realised the driver made an effort to get close to me. At this point, Springwood Police Station are okay with it and chose not to issue an infringement notice.
