When a passing house gives more clearance than a car

Had a close pass from a car, but more notable as it was immediately following a completely safe pass by a relocatable house!
I saw both coming in my rear-view mirror and the truck driver was great: a short friendly 'I'm here' toot of the horn and so much clearance wasn't necessary for me to take to the footpath or stop. The following Merc driver, not so much despite having the other lane completely clear...
