I was cycling south on a cycle path through Meyrick Park towards Braidley Road in Bournemouth when a dog leaped out from behind an SUV by the side of the road and headed towards me from the right. Luckily it stopped before colliding with me.
Incident type: Dog
This is a rural area. Communities don’t always have leash laws. In this case, the dog dashed across the street and nearly got under the front wheel of a cyclist; that always ends poorly for the cyclist.
There can be a crash, or a motorist may swerve to miss the animal and put the cyclists at risk.
Needs to be leashed in this area.
Riding down a fairly regular route when a Vizsla decided they wanted to go for a run at the park.
Dog owner on the footpath had his dog on a long lead. As I approached the dog I started to move out further into the road because I didn’t trust the dog. The dog then ran out straight at me forcing me to avoid further.
This isn’t the off leash area.
Not an off leash area
not an off-leash area!
