This is quite typical here. Despite the long line of slow moving/stationary traffic, because the road briefly widens across the junction, drivers often go for an overtake. If only they would look beyond the bike! Or maybe read the highway code, which says you shouldn't overtake across a junction (or pull in front of a cyclist and slam on the brakes!).
