Repeated obstruction of protected cycle path — response from local authority CHARENTON LE PONT FRANCE

This is the second time I have cycled through this location, and on both occasions a truck has completely blocked the cycle path.

Unlike many other cycle routes, this one is physically protected by a cement curb and metal gates, which makes it extremely difficult for cyclists to leave the path. To bypass the obstruction, you must either ride into oncoming traffic or lift the bicycle up onto the sidewalk to get around the vehicle.

This situation raises serious safety concerns, as the design of the infrastructure effectively traps cyclists when it is illegally blocked.

As you can see, the Deputy Mayor does not appear concerned by the situation and even seems to condone it. His answer from my first post here on Upride =

“I am actually quite pleased to see that a bicycle came through here at all…”

“…this is a cycle path, but I can assure you that it is hardly ever used, while at the same time preventing delivery vehicles, emergency services, tradespeople, or people moving house from parking where they need to. This has become a real problem for the residents of this street.”
