This florist clearly thinks he has right of way over everyone to his left. He followed up with a hand gesture, as if anyone else had actually done anything wrong! There was follow up and action taken by his employers who reacted promptly.
Incident type: Van
Close pass by some guy driving a van and towing a trailer. The trailer got uncomfortably close for comfort. This was my first commute all the way in on my roadie after a month of avoiding the crowded bike path by riding my mtb to go off-path/road wherever possible.
The situation is made worse because it is a pinch point between the corner and a pedestrian refugee island.
The video runs through twice, the first time with the focus on the front camera and the second on the rear camera. I’d already created the video before I thought about uploading it to UpRide so it is not trimmed to 20 seconds before and after sorry. The incident is at about 20 seconds along from the Fly12 and 2 min 15 seconds from the Fly6.
I was cycling along the A551 Leasowe Road heading towards Moreton and had stopped to the left of the road in the cycle box at the traffic lights at the junction with Reeds Lane as they were on Red. There was a vehicle stationary in the right hand lane. The lights changed to green and I proceeded forward into the junction and was immediately passed extremely closely and at speed on my right by a yellow Hyundi van which had “trade” plates on. The van was so close I could have touched it with my elbow.
Coverall Security van. Road was evidently clear and I was adequately visible, so no excuses.
Cycling north on the A515 between Sudbury and Ashbourne, the delivery vehicle approaches from behind and makes no attempt to slow down to assess the situation before overtaking, there were 2 oncoming vehicles as I he overtook me, a narrow section of chevrons down the centre of the road I believe was his justification to pass me at this point but as you can see if you use my back wheel and the white line at the side of the road (to my left) it was close enough to push me off course.
intentionally close pass as provocation!
