Very close punishment pass by a bus, who had heaps of room to pass safely.  I didn’t have anywhere to go as the bus was squeezing me to the edge of the road as, there was a bus shelter with an un-mountable kerb then a fruit seller had set up steel signboards on the side of the road.  Bus wheels are huge and terrifying when right next to your head.  If I had stuck out my right little finger, I would have been able to touch the back of the bus at it’s closest point.  Reported to Transperth who said that they spoke to the driver about the incident.  Took a few days to get my nerve back before I got back on the bike again.

Passenger attempted to hit me with the car door going 50 mph.

Very close punishment pass.  What you can’t see in this video, which is looking backwards, is that I had caught up with a lady cyclist, who was in front of me and a bit to my right.  The car passed about 0.5m from me and about 0.2m from her right hand.  I would guess the speed at >90km/h.  We weren’t on a blind corner and the car had just passed another cyclist further down the hill, so would have been aware of us on the road.  Could easily have slowed down and changed lanes to be behind the motorbikes to pass safely.

The attached video shows a usual ‘close pass’ as experienced by many cyclists. The interesting aspect of this situation is that, after being given a traffic ticket by the police for this offence, the driver obviously learnt his lesson and modified his behaviour because, nine days later, the same driver passed me on the same stretch of road at about the same time of day and he passed me so widely, I thought he was going to run off the far side of the road!!

The video shows the first close pass, followed by the later wide pass.

Rather than wait a few seconds came wayyy too close at speed

2007 LANDROVER RANGE ROVER WAGON Rolled his passenger window down then shouted “Don’t ride side by side”. He then proceeded to turn his wheels left, attempting to run me off the road.

Getting aimed at by large chunky adults surrounded by metal plate is just another side effect of cycling. Or is that chunky metal?
