Taxi going well over the 20mph speed limit could not take the foot off the gas for two seconds to wait to pass the traffic island.

I was cycling on my own side of the quiet suburban road towards a pinch-point. A taxi was coming the other way in the middle of the road, straddling both sides of the road. I expected the taxi to move over into its own side of the road but it continued straight down the middle and straddled the central speed cushion so that it wasn’t inconvenienced by having to slow down. The taxi passed me at speed within inches. Total disregard for the HIghway Code and my own safety. I reported it to the Police but no action was taken.

“use your bell” he said, after making a manouvre without watching.
