Rather close pass especially since ambulance in other direction

I was out for a ride in Northern Michigan when this woman decided she would just squeeze between me and the oncoming vehicle instead of being patient for 5 seconds.

Road ahead was empty with plenty of room to pass for the driver, however not content with a close pass aggressively sounds his horn which startled my wife

To anyone wondering why cyclists sometimes occupy the middle of the lane; it’s to stop this kind of close pass.

I usually occupy the middle of the lane to try to avoid this, but forgot this time.

I doubt this driver was deliberately trying to endanger me, but that’s the effect. The driver could easily have waited about 5 seconds and overtaken safely but didn’t plan that far ahead.

The MET take cycling close passes very seriously, and regularly dish out points or fines with mandatory driving improvement courses.

Probably not his first time and not the last time. We have many children riding out with family’s and this guy is a bit hostile. Have good photos of his plate and face.
