Avoid the bus but hit the cyclist

After stopping behind me at the intersection the driver slowly follows me out, crossing 2 lanes of the highway where I stop in the turning lane due to passing traffic. The driver realises there is an on coming bus, panics, accelerates to avoid being hit and slams in to me throwing me over the handlebars but thankfully falling short of the passing traffic. Grazes and bruising for me but my bike is a write off. The Police aren't interested in doing anything as nobody sought medical attention and no cars had to be towed away.
