This is the second incident of this type at the exact location in about three days. The pickup driver was coming off a divided highway and merging onto a major city street. During the day, both roadways are packed with cars, and this maneuver would be impossible. But in the wee hours of the morning, the driver thought they were the only ones there. Or they were distracted by the unrelated traffic stop with all the cop cars going there. There is also a construction zone, which complicates things a bit for cyclists, as they must merge into traffic lanes to go around barricades.
