CWH86V (NSW) is driving alongside me then puts on its left blinker and pulls over across my path. Knew I was there as they passed me and should have kept watch.

Car driver failed to negotiate a left turn causing a near miss, which causes me to hit the brakes, stopping in front of the car, then car driver mistakes accelerator for brake and hits me.

Southbound on Bayshore Blvd with two flashing rear lights (one Cycliq / one Bontraeger) and a front Cycliq, the vehicle chose to turn into me rather than yield to the bike lane. The vehicle then drove away (hit and run). The police officer was able to upload the videos immediately to the case report and provide me with the vehicle registration information. When confronted, the driver told the police officer I should have seen him turning (he came from behind) and that I failed to yield to his turn. He showed no remorse for his actions. When asked why he left the accident without stopping he said he didn’t stop because he didn’t have shoes on and didn’t want to get out of the car. After contacting the City of Tampa (and providing the videos) to help identify the dangerous intersection, they contacted me to request to use the video in a Public Service Announcement and to let me know they are working to expedite funding for bike safety improvement on the road.

I was riding along and then there is a place where there is an elevated tram stop and the lane is quite narrow and elevated from the other lane to the right. A white Telsa (rego CHX932) tries to push past at a place where is is simply no space (you can see the bike lane marking on the lane) and he hits my elbow with his side mirror. You can hear the impact and see that his mirror was pushed in by the impact.

He then falls back and then aggressively pushes past and narrowly misses me the second time and then blocks the lane as he tries to push back into the other lane. When he stopped at a light further up, he was playing with his phone.

He did not stop to either render assistance nor exchange details after hitting me. That’s a hit and run.

80 mile TT bike training almost done but pick up old driver decided to turn left no matter what and break six bones across my body, ending my Ironman race season of 2023.

As I was riding down US1, a road you DO NOT cycle on, this driver pulled out in front of me. I had assessed the traffic and did not believe there was space for the driver to pull out into traffic. They felt differently. I waited until all my expenses were covered before posting this crash, and the driver was very helpful in making it all good on my end, so no hate to the driver at all.

I was riding to collect my car from being serviced. The road I am next to is not one that is safe for riding on, however, the dealership is in between a split of the North South Road, in a little pocket type area, so I chose to ride the sidewalk for the short journey to crossing the main road.

As I was coming up to the junction, I was keeping an eye on the driver, as much as possible in the Miami sun, and the traffic. I had determined that it was not safe for the driver to pull out into traffic, but apparently they didn’t feel the same way and went for it, knocking me off as I was in front of them. I was knocked senseless for over 12 minutes. Watching the videos there are 12 minutes where you can here me speaking, but I have no memory of that at all. A pedestrian that saw the crash told me the driver never even looked in my direction, they were watching the traffic on the left only. They said the driver was not on the phone that they could see.

All in all, the driver has been vary good in resolving all my bills associated with the crash, and I feel no ill will towards them, this was just an unfortunate accident . They replaced my front wheel, helmet, jersey, and covered the grand in medical bills. I am still recovering to this day (middle of July) as I had just had neck surgery about 6 months prior to being hit, and this reset all of my recovery, but I am improving.

I do believe that he was given a ticket and a court date, but as far as I am concerned all is good. The driver was very upset and concerned when it happened, and I actually had to calm them down. They were starting to really freak out. I calmed them down, told them nothing is broken, but I will be sore for some time, but I am all good. This is not my first car crash, nor will this be my last unfortunately.

I didn’t see you

Sitting at T intersection waiting to cross over to bike path when red car cuts corner to beat its oncoming car and fortunately slows to just love tap me. Could have been way worse!
