Most people do not pass closely like this because they know it can startle people. The driver of this white truck had plenty of time and space to pass safely, but chose to drive in a negligent way instead. I felt like my life was in danger from how close and fast the driver decided to pass. We need complete bicycling networks that are safe and don't ask casual cyclists to ride through intersection designs that are hostile to anyone outside of a car like this.
