Pickup argue about close pass

I entered a choke point with pedestrian island in center of street. Overtaking pickup truck squeezed through close to me. I yelled to move over, he then slowed down to yell back at me (unintelligible). I yelled back about state law distance.
Since he later moved into my shared lane BEHIND me and turned right. I guess I am lucky he didn't pull over in front of me to brake and turn right.
