Dangerously close call
5 Mar, 2025 - 7 days ago - on Mounts Bay Road Cycling in a group of about 12 people westbound along Mount Bay Road at 35-40km/h at 6.05am in the morning. The truck SMECK Concrete 1EVZ-916, came up to the rear of the cyclists - they then hooted their horn (seemingly to intimidate, not warn) and a couple of seconds later proceeded to pass extremely closely, then cut in front of the leading riders. One slight deviation in course by any of the riders, or miscalculation by the driver, could have resulted in multiple deaths. Doing a quick online search of the numberplate showed that the driver in question 'has form' when it comes to using his 20 tonne vehicle to endanger cyclists.
