Why do you record your ride?
I personally have very little memory of what happened that morning as i was knocked out by the driver that hit me, if i hadn’t had the camera on the bike the police weren’t interested in taking any action as they had been told that i was riding all over the road. It was only after i had taken the footage of the incident to the police that any action was taken, which resulted in the driver losing his licence for 12 months and not sure how much his fines were in total, but he had to pay me not quite a thousand dollars which I received drip fed over about 12 months.
When do you feel most vulnerable as a cyclist?
When people are doing things that they shouldn’t. The only way to really improve safety for cyclists on the road is separated cycling infrastructure, but a great many countries and city councils are very car-centric to really do anything about making it safe for people to ride bikes.
What do you think about UpRide?
It’s a good place to post videos of problem roads and incidents that happen.
What is your advice for other cyclists?
My advice to other cyclists is follow the road rules what out for unobservant people driving motor vehicles, riding bikes, and those walking on shared paths or walking where they shouldn’t.
