Incident type: Dog

Dog runs across the road.

Three small loose dogs, presumably owned at near the driveway they exited from.

Cycling southbound on Elroy Rd on the outskirts of Austin, TX I looked up to see a large white dog staring at me from the end of a driveway. As I approached within 20 yards, the dog started trotting towards me. Because the dog was already in the road ahead of me, the dog had a direct angle at me. If I stopped to turn around, I risked losing all momentum and the dog may have caught me, instead I chose to sprint directly at the dog and attempted to juke the dog at the last second.

Minding my own business, I hear a dog bark loudly several times, sounded like the dog was catching me up and freaked me out as that would have been a fast dog! Then a car passed me with a huge shaggy dog hanging out of the window. Thought I’d share 🙂

Unleashed pack of dogs chase guy on bike going uphill

Went to visit family in Texas for X-Mas. Since it is warm and sunny there I rented a bike to get an outdoor ride. With about a mile left to get back to the bike shop I heard something growling behind me. Looked back and saw these two. In hindsight I should have gotten off and put the bike between me and the dogs but all I could think at the time was “kick up the watts and sprint away from the cute puppies!” A few seconds after the end of this clip a truck pulled over by the dogs so I assume their owner found them.

Flying down a 22% gradient and a dog decided to run across the road in front of me. Fortunately his reactions were better than mine and we both avoided needing medical attention…

Had to kick dog with both feet. Lucky no damage.
