I was riding outside the road edge ripple strip on Arthurs Ck Rd, Yan Yan, to the north of Melbourne, Australia. The speed limit is posted at 70 kmh, and at that speed, cars must not pass closer than 1.5m to a cyclist. I am not sure how close he was, but it was less than a metre, by my estimation, and I estimate he was going fast than the speed limit. The law says I can legally ride taking up the whole lane, or at least inside the white line, but no cyclist in their right mind would do that.
