Flared Hilux fail

I was riding my bike with my partner on King Arthur Terrace, Tennyson when the driver of black Toyota Hilux, overtook me very closely at a pinch point created by a traffic island and parked cars and a safety barrier.

The driver of the Hilux was deliberate, aggressive and dangerous in breaking road rule 144A, overtaking me well within the 1m required.

The driver is unlikely to understand that my positioning to the right of the fog line was due to the parked cars and safety barrier along King Arthur Terrace. He clearly failed to give me safe space where the traffic island was deliberately choosing to overtake me at this point. The video evidence also cleary shows him move his car towards me - I could easily have touched his left fender with my right hand - truly frightening. This road does have some bicycle awareness markings but no bicycle lane markings.

My position on the road is in any case immaterial to the application of Rule 144A which requires that drivers keep a safe lateral distance of at least 1m. Measurements of the road way, the width of the Hilux (which incidentally had flared wheel arches) and me on my bike will clearly show that the lateral distance allowed by the driver was far less than 1m.
