Deceptive Cycle Path
I was cycling in Ross on Wye yesterday early afternoon from the direction of the B4234 Ledbury Road to the roundabout with junctions A40 Monmouth and M50 North Wales. On previous occasions, I entered the roundabout. I used the 5th exit but thought it would be safer to use the cycle path from Ledbury Road to the A40 Gloucester Road, using the pelican crossing about 200 metres past the junction. I did this safely. However, it would appear that the route takes you through the estate and brings you out further along the A40. I hadn't used this route before, so I turned immediately right and headed towards what deceptively looked like a dropped kerb to rejoin the carriageway. However, once getting to it I realised it was a regular kerb edge and fell onto the road and into the traffic. More care needs to be used at this point or more signage is needed for clearer directions of the cycle path route.
