Driver couldn't handle waiting a few seconds for me to get through intersection. My path through on the footpath bike lane was blocked ahead (illegally) so I used the Advanced Stop Box to take the lane more safely through the major intersection.
After the driver's dangerous aggressive close pass (I am sure his vehicle brushed my pannier bag) he pulled over ahead of me and got out to confront me, making up some nonsense that I should have been in the bike lane. NZ law says cyclists are not required to use bike lanes if it is not safe. I determined it wasn't, with 2 lanes merging into one lane through the intersection.
